Taking Steps to Succeed

ImageCharlena Sanchez has proved that she can overcome negative obstacles in her life. At SIATech High School in Long Beach, CA, Charlena has pushed herself to become one of our top students in our school.

Charlena described her childhood as rough. She commented that negativity and drama overruled her childhood and teenage years. When in high school, Charlena explained that all she cared about was having a social life. It included leaving out and ignoring her studies. She hated school, so she would ditch, fight, and disrespect her peers and teachers. School was boring to her and she felt that it did not impact her life in any way. She did not have support from anyone, so she commented that the lack of support blinded her from realizing that education opens doors to positive outcomes in her future.

Before her realizations that impacted her life positively, Charlena became pregnant. At that point she knew she was not one anymore and that she would need to take care and raise a successful child with constructive support she never had. She met a friend who once attended Long Beach Job Corps and SIATech. Her friend, Belen Navarro graduated from SIATech and became a successful employee at Job Corps. Charlena admired her friend and decided to take steps to succeed. She enrolled and became part of our student body.
Charlena is proud that she decided to attend SIATech High School. Her views of life have turned from negative to positive because of our wonderful program. She knows that by being at SIATech, she is opening the doors to her success and for the future of her child.
