RAPSA is delighted to partner with one of our members, the National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) to bring you a RAPSA Webinar on August 21 from 2-3pm EDT. Please note the webinar instructions above.

Schools serving to reengage opportunity youth often face conflicts between their missions and traditional state measurements of College and Career ready.  For example, CTE metrics commonly require a group of students to take classes together for two years; how might a school with a highly mobile population demonstrate career readiness for its students?

California has recognized that the indicators of success may be measured in ways that reflect the needs of students who may be highly mobile, attend open-entry/open-exit schools, may have attended multiple high schools, and my be otherwise over-age or under-credit. There are also thousands of students attending schools in partnership with US Department of Labor programs like Job Corps, YouthBuild or other Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs.  Such students and schools receive high quality career preparation and workforce training that may not align closely with the State’s existing academic CTE requirements.

Join representatives of one such school in a discussion about how they are using state support to develop a high quality workforce ready program and learn how California is leading the nation in developing alternative workforce readiness metrics to satisfy traditional accountability indicators. Bring your experience and questions!
