Serving At-Promise Students During the COVID-19 Crisis

Presentation Slides

Discover emerging distance learning best practices for At-Promise Students.  At-Promise students rely on positive relationships with their teachers to overcome the trauma they have experienced in their lives.  The onset of the COVID crisis resulted in the cessation of classroom connections.  Hear from your colleagues about creative strategies for maintaining positive relationships from a distance.

RAPSA Board Member Mathew LaPlante will be leading the discussion and provide perspective on how to build online discussions spaces that benefit at-promise students.  Mr. LaPlante is a noted author, journalist and professor with a passion for reengaging at-promise students.

Bobbie Arterberry III serves as a Lead Teacher with SIATech and has been recently elected to SIATech’s Board of Directors where he serves as the organizations Staff Representative. Mr. Arterberry has provided specialized professional development for multiple organizations focusing primarily on distance learning and re-engaging students virtually.

Sara Dolan has worked with the University of California, Google, San Francisco State University and others to design, deliver and maintain e-learning environments with a focus on serving at-promise students and their communities.  Sara currently leads the Instructional Design team at the University of California, Scout – the UC’s fully online high school.

Twice a month, RAPSA will provide an online session to discuss strategies, research, and support among education, community, and workforce leaders who serve at-promise students.  We are building from our first webinar with over 400 registrants to focus in on a single topic with a colleague who is developing a best practice for addressing COVID-19 related issues impacting at-promise students.
