Partner Spotlight: Portland Public Schools
RAPSA is proud to highlight Portland Public Schools (PPS) as a valued partner in advancing opportunity, equity, and student success. As one of the largest PK–12 urban school districts in the Pacific Northwest, PPS serves more than 44,000 students across 81 schools in Portland, Oregon.
Founded in 1851, PPS is guided by a mission to provide rigorous, high-quality academic learning experiences that are inclusive and joyful while actively working to disrupt racial inequities. The district’s focus on innovation and access is reflected in its expanding Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, nationally recognized Dual Language Immersion programs, robust early childhood education offerings, guaranteed arts education, and comprehensive athletics programs. Together, these initiatives support academic achievement, creativity, belonging, and long-term student success.
RAPSA’s connection to PPS is strengthened through Dr. Kimberlee Armstrong, Superintendent of Portland Public Schools and a RAPSA board member. Dr. Armstrong’s leadership is rooted in equity, resilience, and building systems where both students and educators can thrive. Her dedication to disrupting inequities and creating inclusive, high-impact learning environments closely aligns with RAPSA’s mission to support students who face systemic barriers.
